History
Aevum's beginnings stem back to 1868, when the Hibernian Australasian Catholic Benefit Society was established in Ballarat, Victoria to assist Irish Catholics with funeral and sickness benefits. The NSW district was established in 1880 and was known as the Hibernian Australasian Catholic Benefit Society of New South Wales. In 1998 the Society changed its name to Hibernian Friendly Society (NSW) Limited.
Hibernian was demutualised in 2002 and in May 2004 changed its name to Aevum Limited to better reflect its core focus – providing the best in retirement living and aged care options and enhancing the quality of life of residents. AEVUM is Latin for AGE and LIFE, which is a natural fit with the company's objectives and values. Aevum is proud of its heritage, continually builds on its past successes and is committed to reinvesting in the business and expanding its level of services and care options available to provide seniors with quality retirement lifestyle.
Aevum's Philosophy
Providing the best in lifestyle living and aged care services for Australian seniors has long been the mission of Aevum. The company's point of difference is that it owns and operates its villages and facilities, which ensures it is able to provide a higher level of service and quality care, for both residents and in the day to day operation of the properties. Aevum focuses on building quality, architecturally designed premises which it is proud to own in the long term.
Staff
Aevum Limited's villages and facilities are staffed by a team of highly trained and experienced professionals, with backgrounds in nursing fields, aged care, hospitality and personal care. The key aim of team members is to provide our residents with a lifestyle choice, focusing on day to day living, service and care. Added to that is Aevum's commitment to ensuring security, privacy and maintaining the dignity of residents. Hibernian's team members undergo regular training to initially prepare them for their roles, and to ensure they are providing residents with the best service and care.

Retirement Villages
Aevum Limited, under the sub-brand of Aevum Living, currently owns and operates nineteen retirement villages in the across Australia, with a wide range of accommodation and care options.
Aevum's retirement villages are all about lifestyle and quality of life. Each one has been architecturally designed to meet the specific needs of seniors and to provide a secure, relaxed community environment. The company has implemented a program of upgrading accommodation and infrastructure and building new apartments in its villages to ensure they maintain a reputation as some of Sydney's best retirement villages.
A highlight of the villages are the beautiful landscaped gardens, which are maintained by gardeners under the supervision of qualified arborists. The communities provide a lively, stimulating atmosphere in which residents can participate as much or as little as they want. Generally the villages feature a number of recreational and leisure facilities such as communal centres, swimming pools, exercise areas, indoor bowls, craft areas, libraries, doctors' consultation rooms, village shops, coffee shops, community dining rooms, chapels and private bus services. Convenience is also a key factor, and all villages are located within close proximity to public transport, shopping centres and amenities such as health care facilities.
Residences range from studios, one, two and three bedroom self-care apartments, serviced apartments, low care hostels, respite care, and high care nursing homes, with parking provided. Peace of mind is an important consideration, and all accommodation is connected to a 24-hour village-monitored emergency call system, with Vitalcall buttons located in each bedroom, toilet and bathroom.
